Early Favorites for the 2022 Verizon 200 at the Brickyard
The 2022 Verizon 200 at the Brickyard is the 22nd race in the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series. Drivers will drive 82 laps and a little under 2,500 miles in an effort to pick up a victory and get some points in the standings.
The Verizon 200 odds will be heavily followed as the race draws closer. In the meantime, let’s look at some of the early favorites for this race and discuss their chances of winning.
Chase Elliott
It is difficult to imagine Chase Elliott not being in contention as he is currently leading all of the NASCAR Cup Series with three wins and has a pretty solid gap between him and the rest of the drivers this season. He finished in fourth place and led for 14 laps (third most in the race) in last year’s race, so he has done pretty well in the 95 laps as the race went into overtime in 2021.
That should put Elliot one of the most exciting drivers heading into this race. He should be able to dominate here to remain in contention like he always has throughout the season.
Ross Chastain
Ross Chastain has been doing well as he is currently second in the NASCAR Cup Series standings. But he struggled at this course last year, finishing 29th and ranking last in laps finished (93) among all drivers who didn’t fall out of the race.
Chastain has finished within the top-five of a race ten different times thus far, with no other driver having more than eight. The biggest thing is the fact he often remains in contention throughout the entire race, so he has a chance to pull off a win here and get closer to first place in the standings.
Kyle Larson
Kyle Larson has been one of the more famous drivers and should be in contention for this race. He is fifth in the NASCAR Cup Series standings and should do well in this upcoming race as well. Larson finished well inside the top ten in 14 of his 20 starts (70 percent) this season.
The veteran racer finished in third place in last year’s event but finished with the most laps led at 28. He should be considered one of the better bets for this race, even though he has struggled at times throughout the season.
Who Will Win?
Kyle Larson, Ross Chastain, and Chase Elliott all have a great chance to end up in the winner’s circle here. A.J. Allmendinger won this event last season but is not in the standings for the Cup Series this year.
After assessing all the drivers, Larson has the best chance to win this race. His performance was solid last year, and he has done well throughout the season thus far. Look for him to capture the win at the Brickyard.
Conclusion
Looking at previous performance on the track, as well as how they have done throughout the season, are two incredibly significant factors in deciding a winner for a NASCAR event. The season is winding down, as we are on the back half of the schedule, so buckle up and enjoy a thrilling 2022 Verizon 200 at the Brickyard.
